What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

An EAP assists employees in coping with personal problems that affect their job performance.

The employee with problems:
Nobody is immune to the stress and demands of life. An employee with problems is someone who is seemingly ineffective in carrying out the functions and tasks of their work assignments.

Problems affecting employees:
Alcoholism, drug abuse, illness, anxiety, depression, family, marital problems, legal, financial problems.

General warning signs:
High absenteeism, high turnover rates, lower productivity, poor workmanship, personnel costs, accidents, medical claims.
