Child and Youth Counselling
Children and youth react strongly to the environments in which they are nurtured. Family life has a huge impact on how children are socialized, and in turn, how their behaviour and attitudes are reflected in return.
A child who is depressed or experiencing problems will show signs or changes in eating, sleeping, school, irritability, lack of personal safety and boundaries, recklessness, alcohol or substance abuse. Often, they will lack the self-esteem and confidence to be able to develop accordingly and appropriately for their age.
Children don't typically talk about their problems, but demonstrate and provide indicators and deeper understanding of issues through their artwork and while engaged in play.
A professional counsellor / social worker can engage your child or youth and will be able to help guide you and provide insight as to the underlying reasons for your child's behaviour.
